Features of a modern kitchen that can transform your cooking experience

Today’s modern kitchen has all the latest gadgets and appliances and is made to provide the users with the utmost efficiency. Many modern kitchens have an eating area which usually has a counter surrounded by stools. These modern day kitchens allows for interaction between the cook and the guest while the meal is being prepared or while cleaning up. The key factors in a modern day kitchen are space and ease of use. Items which were previously seen as unattractive such as dishwashers and trash disposals are now blended into the overall décor. Many modern kitchens have similar features such as appliances, color, materials, cabinet, lighting and flooring.

One popular feature of modern kitchens is built-in appliances. Counter tops or center soles have built-in stovetops and ranges and refrigerators are placed in corners that fit the cabinet lines. Large appliances with stainless doors are very trendy today as they can be blended with any color or accessory.
You can easily create a modern kitchen with many new materials that are available today. New uses have been found for glass and stainless steel in the kitchen and maple and granite are incorporated into the overall design. Synthetic alloys and polymers are also freely used in the modern kitchen and clean and simple materials such as marble and chrome are customary in the design of a modern kitchen.
Bold colors such as silver, black, and red are used instead of wallpapers with flowers and earth tones. Bold colors blended with backsplashes, wood-like materials and cabinet doors create a warm feel to the modern kitchen.

In the modern kitchen, linoleum is replaced with ceramic tiles and wood floors. The flooring is usually in correspondence with the wall color, and creates a flow that is open yet smooth. Ceramic tiles with high gloss can also provide a light wooden floor with a balance, which removes the need for a divider between the living and kitchen areas.

No longer are cabinets used as just a storage space. In the modern kitchen you can open a cabinet door and find a trash compactor or dishwasher in it. Covers for refrigerators and other large appliances made from the same material as the cabinet is prevalent in the modern kitchen. Cabinets are also no longer just made from simple wood. They are now also made of high gloss, clean line materials with polymers that can resist impact. Glass fronts and transparent fronts are used to show off artistic touches and dinnerware as well.

In the modern kitchen, the lighting is not blatant. Instead, it is placed under hanging lamps and counters and aims to highlight the contrast in the design.
